At the centre of the cross is an open-work quatrefoil, a design feature distinctive to Henry IV's light coinage pennies. The cross arms are boldly struck and the trefoils clearly visible, though the coin's irregular flan and hammered production result in some weakness at the margins. The mint name legend is divided by the cross arms into four segments within the outer beaded circle. |
