Obverse description Facing crowned effigy of King Henry IV rendered in the crude, flat style characteristic of the heavy coinage. The king's visage is broad with a rounded chin, wide-set eyes, and a stylised crown with large fleurs above the band. The portrait is contained within a beaded inner circle, with the legend running along the outer border in uncial letterforms. The die workmanship reflects the provincial character of the York mint.
