| Obverse description | Facing crowned royal bust depicted in a schematic, stylised manner characteristic of early 13th-century English hammered coinage. The king holds a sceptre to the right, with the bust contained within a beaded inner circle. Curling hair falls to either side of the face, and the crown is rendered with stylised fleurs. The surrounding legend in uncial lettering reads HENRICVS REX, identifying the monarch as King Henry. |

| Reverse description | Central voided short cross extending to the inner beaded circle, dividing the field into four quarters, each containing three pellets arranged in a triangular grouping — a diagnostic feature of class 7b Short Cross pennies. The cross is boldly struck with plain limbs. The surrounding legend in uncial lettering names the moneyer and mint, reading ILGER ON LVNDE, identifying the moneyer Ilger operating at the London mint. |
