Obverse description Facing crowned bust of King Henry III within a beaded inner circle, the king depicted with a stylized visage featuring pellet eyes and a neatly rendered beard, the crown ornamented with fleurs above a band of beads. The effigy is rendered in the flat, hieratic style characteristic of mid-13th century English hammered coinage. A beaded border frames the design, with the regal legend disposed in uncial lettering around the periphery of the coin.
