Obverse description Facing crowned bust of King Henry II in the Romanesque style characteristic of the Tealby coinage, rendered in a stylised and somewhat crude manner typical of mid-12th-century English hammered silver. The king is depicted full-face wearing a crown with prominent projecting points or fleurs, with large staring eyes, a broad nose, and a moustache rendered in low relief. The bust is encircled by a beaded inner circle, with the partial legend reading + hENRI RE[X] arranged around the periphery in Roman capitals.
