Reverse description A bold six-pointed star (hexagram) with deeply incised interlaced triangular forms dominates the reverse field, centered on the circular hole that passes through its middle. The inscription BRITISH WEST AFRICA arcs around the upper periphery in large, widely-spaced Latin capitals. The date 1937 is positioned in the lower exergual area beneath the hexagram, flanked by small decorative dots. The overall design is striking and geometric, characteristic of British West African coinage of the era.
