| Beschrijving keerzijde | A tui (Prosthemadera novaeseelandiae), a native New Zealand honeyeater bird, is depicted perched on a kowhai branch laden with characteristic pendulous blossoms and foliage, the composition filling the central field with naturalistic detail. The bird faces to the left with its distinctive curved beak open, its plumage rendered with fine engraved lines. The legend 'NEW ZEALAND' arcs along the left periphery and 'ONE PENNY' along the right, separated by a raised dot at the top. The date, flanked by two raised dots, appears in the lower exergue. A continuous beaded border frames the entire reverse design. |
