The 1926 issue is notably scarce relative to later dates in this range — mintage figures dropped sharply as the Pact Government of Hertzog pursued fiscal tightening following the economic disruptions of the mid-decade. The 1928 and 1930 dates are considerably more available in circulated grades. KM#14.2 distinguishes this subtype by the presence of the dot after "PENNY" on the reverse, a detail that separates it from the earlier 14.1 issues.
