| Beschrijving voorzijde | Bare-headed left-facing effigy of King George V, representing the modified portrait introduced in 1926, with finer detail and slightly reduced relief compared to the earlier MacKennal design. The legend encircles the bust, and the engraver's initials BM appear truncated at the shoulder. The design reflects the refined recutting undertaken to improve striking quality on the bronze coinage. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
The "modified effigy" designation marks a deliberate intervention by the Royal Mint in 1926, when Bertram Mackennal's original portrait of George V — in use since 1911 — was reworked to reduce the relief and improve striking consistency across the aging obverse dies. The change was practical, not ceremonial. Two years of this type were struck before the design was superseded again in 1928 by a further revision, giving the modified effigy an exceptionally short production window.
