Obverse description Bare-headed left-facing effigy of King George V occupies the central field, rendered in high relief with fine detail to the facial features and short beard. The legend GEORGE V D.G.BRITT.OMN:REX curves along the upper periphery of the square flan, following the shape of the coin. The date 1919 appears in the lower portion of the field, flanked by small ornamental devices. The design is contained within a raised border that follows the square format with rounded corners, characteristic of this pattern series.
