Obverse description Bare-headed left-facing effigy of King George V occupies the central field of this square flan with generously rounded corners. The portrait, rendered in moderate relief, depicts the King with his characteristic short beard and neatly combed hair, in a style consistent with the standard Commonwealth portrait of the period. Surrounding the effigy, the Latin legend GEORGVS V D.G.BRITT.OMN:REX arcs from lower left to lower right along the inner border, with the date 1921 displayed prominently at the base, flanked by small pellet stops. The design is contained within a raised rim that follows the square outline of the planchet.
