Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of King George III facing right, rendered in high relief with fine classical detail. The portrait is attributed to the hand of Conrad Heinrich Küchler and displays the king in mature effigy with laurel wreath and drapery over the shoulder. A raised rim frames the design, with the legend disposed around the periphery in evenly spaced capital letters. The overall style reflects the neoclassical aesthetic championed by Matthew Boulton's Soho Mint.
