正面描述 Laureate and draped bust of King George III facing right, set within the open field at center. The effigy is rendered in moderate relief with flowing hair gathered at the nape and a laurel wreath crowning the head. The circular legend GOD : SAVE : THE : KING arcs around the upper periphery, separated by dot stops, with the date 1830 positioned at the base below the portrait. The entire design is enclosed within a fine beaded border.

附加信息

John McTurk operated a hardware business in Dumfries, Scotland, and issued this token during the chronic small-change shortage that plagued Britain well into the 1820s and 30s — a problem the Royal Mint repeatedly failed to resolve adequately despite the copper recoinage of 1797. Provincial merchants filled the gap themselves, commissioning tokens from die-sinkers and distributing them locally as functional currency. McTurk's issue is catalogued by Withers, placing it firmly within the documented Scottish token series rather than among the many anonymous or poorly attributed provincial pieces.
