Reverse description A large six-pointed star (hexagram) dominates the reverse field, formed by two interlocking equilateral triangles, with the central round hole at its core. The legend 'BRITISH WEST AFRICA' curves along the upper periphery, reading from left to right, flanked by two raised dots at the lower sides. The date '1956' is inscribed in the lower exergual area beneath the hexagram. The milled border runs continuously around the entire circumference of the coin.
