| 正面描述 | Laureate and draped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, modelled by Mary Gillick, with hair gathered at the nape and adorned with a laurel wreath rendered in low relief. The portrait, characteristic of Gillick's first coinage portrait of the Queen, features a graceful, youthful likeness with fine hair detailing. A circular Latin legend runs within a beaded border around the entire periphery, reading: + ELIZABETH·II·DEI·GRATIA·REGINA·F:D: |

The omission of "BRITT:OMN" — abbreviating Britanniarum Omnium Regina, Queen of All the Britains — reflects a deliberate political adjustment made in 1954 as the Commonwealth reshaped itself. With former dominions such as India long independent and others following, retaining a claim to sovereignty over all British territories had become diplomatically untenable. The modified legend brought British coinage into alignment with revised royal titles adopted across the Commonwealth that same year.
