Obverse description Laureate and draped right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, after the first portrait by Mary Gillick, occupying the central field. The Queen's hair is elegantly arranged with a laurel wreath, and strands are rendered with fine engraved detail. The circumscribed legend reads '+ ELIZABETH·II·DEI·GRATIA·REGINA·F:D:' and runs clockwise around the effigy, separated from the rim by a continuous beaded border.
