A quatrefoil ornament is placed at the center intersection of the cross, a diagnostic feature of Edward IV's penny coinage. The mint legend is arranged in two words per quarter, reading around the coin in the standard medieval English fashion. The die is struck on an irregular flan with some weakness at the margins, consistent with hammered production of this era. |
