| Beschrijving keerzijde | A long cross pattée extending to the coin's beaded inner border divides the field into four quadrants, each containing a trefoil of pellets arranged in a triangular grouping. The cross pattée arms terminate in splayed, slightly curved ends characteristic of the Treaty period coinage. A circular uncial Latin legend is distributed across the four quadrants reading VIL LA·C ALE SIE, identifying the Calais mint, which was the sole issuer of pennies during this period. |
