Obverse description Facing crowned portrait of the king within an inner beaded circle, the crown characteristically formed with a central fleur composed of three wedges, a diagnostic feature of class 12a. The royal effigy is rendered in the conventional medieval facing bust style, with the legend surrounding the portrait between the inner beaded circle and the outer border. A thick cross mintmark appears at the commencement of the obverse legend.
