| Opis awersu | Facing crowned bust of King Edward I rendered in the characteristic angular Gothic style of the late 13th-century English sterling coinage. The king is depicted with a broad, stylised visage, wearing a tri-foliate crown with prominent central fleur, and a short neck truncation at the base. The hair is rendered in incuse parallel lines falling to either side of the face. A beaded inner circle frames the portrait, with the royal legend arranged in uncial Latin characters around the periphery between the inner and outer beaded borders, beginning with a cross pattée. |
