| 裏面の説明 | A bold long cross pattée extends to the full coin margin, dividing the reverse into four quarters. Each quarter contains a trefoil of three pellets arranged in a triangular grouping, a diagnostic feature of the Edward I New Coinage series. The mint name is inscribed in uncial Latin script around the field, divided by the arms of the cross into four syllabic segments, and contained between an inner beaded circle and the outer toothed border. The overall design is characteristic of the hammered sterling penny coinage introduced by the monetary reform of 1279. |
