Reverse description A short cross pattée occupies the central field, with a letter or symbol visible in one of the quadrants formed by the cross arms, consistent with the moneyer's initial or mint mark typical of 12th-century Scottish penny reverses. The design is executed in a bold, deeply struck style on an irregular flan, with the cross extending nearly to the coin's edge. The field shows evidence of typical die wear and surface patination consistent with prolonged circulation. The reverse legend, though partially off-flan, would have carried the moneyer's name in abbreviated Latin form.
