| 正面描述 | The central device depicts the colonial arms of Queensland, featuring a quartered shield with a rampant bull, a sheaf of wheat, a ship under sail, and a fleece, surmounted by a radiant sun. The shield is supported by an emu to the left and a kangaroo to the right, both facing inward toward the arms. A scroll beneath bears the motto ADVANCE AUSTRALIA. The outer legend QUEENSLAND arcs across the upper field, with the date 1863 inscribed at the base, all within a beaded border. |

| 背面描述 | The reverse is an entirely typographic design with no pictorial device. The circular legend QUEENSLAND STORES arcs across the upper field, and D.T. MULLIGAN curves along the lower periphery, all within a beaded border. The word ROCKHAMPTON is prominently struck in large raised letters across the center of the plain field, identifying the place of issue of this tradesman's token. |

D.T. Mulligan operated a general store in Rockhampton during the early boom years of the Queensland interior, when the colony's retail economy ran substantially on private token coinage due to a chronic shortage of official small change. The Brisbane government had no immediate remedy, and merchants like Mulligan effectively issued their own currency to keep trade moving. Rockhampton tokens from this period are notably scarcer than their Sydney or Melbourne counterparts — the town's population was still thin in 1863, and production runs were correspondingly modest.
