| Obverse description | Schematized and highly stylized bust facing left, rendered in a degenerate Hiberno-Norse artistic tradition derived from contemporary Anglo-Saxon penny types. The effigy displays a crudely executed profile with a prominent eye rendered as a circle, a cluster of three pellets along the neck and before the face serving as decorative or symbolic elements, and a radiating headdress or hair treatment composed of incised lines fanning outward from the crown. The surrounding legend is largely illegible and degenerate, retaining only vestigial letterforms in the field. |
