| Beschrijving keerzijde | A long voided cross extends to the coin's edge, dividing the reverse field into four quadrants, a design characteristic of medieval Scottish pennies intended to facilitate halving and quartering of the coin. Each quadrant contains a six-pointed star motif, a distinctive feature of Alexander III's coinage that helps distinguish Type VII within the first coinage series. A pellet is placed at the centre of the cross. The reverse legend, naming the moneyer and mint, encircles the design in uncial Latin lettering. The overall execution reflects the hammered technique, with the flan showing the typical irregularity of 13th-century Scottish silver pennies. |
