| Obverse description | Within an inner beaded circle, the quartered Burgundian arms are displayed over a long cross, the shield bearing fleurs-de-lis and diagonal stripes in the respective quarters. The cross extends to the beaded border, dividing the field into four sections. A circular Latin legend in uncial characters runs between the inner beaded circle and the outer border, reading MO ⸰ NO PHI ⸰ EPI ⸰ TRAIEC, referencing Philip as bishop of Utrecht. The overall design is characteristic of late medieval Low Countries hammered coinage. |
