Obverse description Crude bust of the king facing right, wearing a pointed helmet and holding a sceptre in the right hand. The effigy is rendered in the simplified Anglo-Scandinavian style typical of eleventh-century Norwegian coinage. A peripheral legend encircles the bust within the beaded or linear border.
