| Obverse description | Crude crowned bust of King Olav Kyrre facing right, rendered in the debased Viking hammered style characteristic of late 11th-century Norwegian coinage. The king's radiate or spiked crown is prominently depicted above the facial profile, with a single pellet serving as the eye. A long sceptre or lance is shown to the left of the bust, while the field is adorned with pellets and crescent ornaments arranged around the royal effigy. The overall design reflects strong Anglo-Saxon artistic influence, typical of Norwegian pennies of this period. |
