Reverse description The reverse displays a monogram or royal cipher composed of Gothic letter forms, generally interpreted as a ligature of the letters E and S or a stylized royal initial, arranged centrally within the field. Below the monogram appears a secondary symbol, possibly a second letter grouping or mint mark, rendered in the same crude hammered style. The design fills the central field of the flan with no encircling legend, consistent with the small penning denomination of Magnus VII Eriksson's Norwegian coinage.
