Knut I Eriksson's reign consolidated Sverker and Erik dynastic rivalries into something approaching stable royal authority in Sweden, and these thin bracteate-style pennies were among the earliest coins struck under a distinctly Swedish royal mandate rather than ecclesiastical or foreign initiative. At 0.25g, the flan was so slight that surviving examples are frequently found cracked or incompletely struck — a structural limitation of the technology, not collector mishandling.
