The moneyer's legend * SWAFA ILVNDI, identifying the moneyer Swafa operating at the mint of Lund, runs around the periphery in Latin script. |

Harold III — known as Harald Hen, "the Whetstone" — ruled Denmark for just three years following the murder of his father Sweyn II's chosen heir. His reign saw the first serious attempt to organize Danish coinage along continental lines, likely influenced by direct contact with German ecclesiastical minting practices. The Hauberg 1 classification places this among the earliest attributable issues of his reign, struck at a moment when royal mint control in Denmark was still fragmentary at best.
