Obverse description Central field features a rampant lion passant facing left, rendered in a crude but bold hammered style typical of mid-sixteenth-century Swedish coinage. The lion occupies the majority of the coin's field and is encircled by a beaded inner ring. A circular Latin legend surrounds the inner ring, incorporating the last two digits of the year of issue. The overall strike is irregular, with some weakness at the flan edges consistent with hammered production techniques.
