Gaute Ivarsson served as Archbishop of Nidaros from 1474 until his death in 1510, making his episcopate one of the longest in the see's medieval history. The Archbishopric held minting rights — a privilege fiercely defended against repeated encroachment by the Danish crown — and small silver penningar from this period circulated primarily in the Trondheim region. Skaare 330 is among the more elusive attributions in Norwegian medieval numismatics, with surviving examples thinly scattered across Scandinavian collections.
