| Obverse description | Within a pointed shield, two crossed axes with ornate heads arranged saltire-wise, representing the arms of the Archbishopric of Nidaros. The shield is set within a plain inner circle, surrounded by a prominent radiate or ray garland border composed of alternating raised lines extending to the irregular coin edge. No legend present. The design is characteristic of the bracteate coinage issued under Archbishop Gaute Ivarsson. |
