Obverse description Armored bust of King Canute IV facing left, wearing a conical helmet with nose guard, depicted in a bold and stylized Viking-era manner. The king holds a sword upright before him in his right hand, with the crossguard and pommel clearly rendered. A spear or sceptre appears rising behind the helmet, adding to the regal martial iconography. The figure is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, beyond which runs the royal legend in the outer field. The engraving is characteristic of late 11th-century Danish hammered coinage, with strong relief and schematic yet expressive portraiture.
