Issued during the reign of Magnus Barefoot — named for his reported habit of wearing a Scottish kilt rather than trousers after his campaigns in the Western Isles — this anonymous penning belongs to a period when Norwegian coinage was so poorly documented that attribution relies almost entirely on hoard evidence and die-linkage studies.
