正面描述 Stylized effigy of the king in profile facing left, holding a sceptre, rendered in the crude hammered style typical of 11th-century Scandinavian coinage. The bust is enclosed within a beaded inner ring. A legend in Latin uncial characters runs around the periphery within the beaded rim, partially legible due to the irregular flan.

附加信息

Struck under Harald Hardråde's successors during a period when Norwegian royal coinage was still largely imitative of Anglo-Saxon penny types — a direct consequence of the English moneyers and dies that had been influencing Scandinavian minting since Cnut's time. The anonymous attribution reflects genuine uncertainty about which king authorized this issue; the overlapping reigns of Olaf Kyrre and his co-ruler Magnus Haraldsson between 1066 and 1069 make precise attribution difficult without documentary corroboration.

Schive's foundational 1865 corpus remains the baseline reference, with Brekke's later refinements tightening the typological sequence but not resolving the attribution question.
