Obverse description A large Teutonic cross with double-lined arms extends to the inner border, dividing the field into four quadrants. Each angle of the cross contains a decorative ring or annulet, lending a geometric regularity to the design. The cross arms terminate in flat, slightly splayed ends characteristic of medieval Norwegian hammered coinage. The entire device is enclosed within a beaded border running along the periphery of the flan.
