| Obverse description | Crude facing bust of the king rendered in the Viking-influenced Romanesque style typical of Norwegian medieval coinage, depicted with long flowing hair falling to either side of the face and a stylized crown or diadem above. The facial features are rendered in bold, somewhat schematic relief, with prominent eyes, a broad nose, and a bearded chin rendered by a row of pellets or short strokes. The field surrounding the effigy bears traces of a partially legible Latin legend. The flan is irregular and pierced near the upper rim, consistent with later use as a pendant. |
