| Reverse description | Central eight-pointed star or compass-rose motif occupying the full field, formed by intersecting lines radiating from a central point, with additional short lines between the primary rays creating a multi-pointed starburst design. Small pellets or wedge-shaped ornaments are distributed between the rays. Fragmentary Latin legend surrounds the design along the periphery, partially illegible due to the rough irregular flan edge typical of hammered medieval Norse coinage. The overall geometric composition is consistent with Norwegian penning reverses of the late 11th century as catalogued by Skaare. |
