Reverse description Reverse displays a prominent cross pattée or voided cross dividing the field into four quadrants, enclosed within a circular inner border, consistent with Norwegian penning types of the Olaf Kyrre period. To the left of the cross a small figure or symbol, possibly a sceptre or regal emblem, is visible in the field. A partially legible Latin legend surrounds the design along the outer border, with letter forms characteristic of 11th-century Scandinavian hammered coinage. The overall execution is bold but irregular, reflecting hand-struck production at the Nidaros mint.
