The Soviet military command issued this note for use in Hungary as Red Army forces pushed west in late 1944, well before a stabilized Hungarian civilian administration could be reestablished. These occupation issues were printed in the USSR and introduced alongside the existing Hungarian pengő — not as a replacement, but as a parallel tender that troops and local populations were expected to accept at face value.
The "larger" designation distinguishes it from P#M1, which shares the same denomination and authority but differs in physical format — an unusual situation that points to more than one print run or source under wartime logistical pressure.
