| Obverse description | Armored warrior on horseback advancing to the right, brandishing an upraised sword in his right hand; the horse is depicted in a dynamic rearing posture. The rider wears a plumed helmet and full plate armor rendered in the late Renaissance style characteristic of Spanish Netherlands coinage. The mint name RVRE (for Ruremonde/Roermond) appears in the exergue below the horse. A circular Latin legend surrounds the equestrian figure, referencing the joint rulers Archdukes Albert and Isabella as Dukes of Gelderland. |
