| 正面铭文 | ضرب في طرابلس غرب (Translation: Struck in Tripoli West) |
| 背面描述 | A six-pointed star (hexagram) dominates the central field, formed by two interlocking triangles in the traditional Ottoman decorative style. Scattered dot devices, numbering between four and seven, are distributed within and around the points of the hexagram. The design is struck on an irregular flan with weak areas typical of hammered provincial Ottoman coinage, and the overall execution reflects the artisanal character of the Tripolitan mint. |

Tripoli's regency coinage under Mahmud II occupied an awkward political space — the Karamanli dynasty still governed the province with substantial autonomy, yet Ottoman suzerainty required acknowledgment on the coinage. By 1808, the Karamanlis were barely a decade removed from their war with the United States, a conflict that had drained the regency's treasury and destabilized its tributary income. Copper issues of this period circulated in a local economy increasingly dependent on ransoms, tribute, and slaving rather than conventional trade revenue.
