Reverse description Central field bearing the Arabic mint and date legend ضرب في طرابلس غرب ١٢٢٣ (Struck in Tripoli West, year 1223 AH), written in flowing naskh script across multiple lines. A beaded border frames the inscription, consistent with the obverse treatment. The flan is irregular in outline, a hallmark of the hand-hammered technique employed at the Tripoli West mint. Regnal year numerals appear in the field on certain emission varieties, differentiating the several known date varieties struck across the reign of Mahmud II.
