Additional information

The Tripolitanian regency under the Karamanli dynasty was, in the years 1806–1808, simultaneously managing the aftermath of the First Barbary War — the 1805 treaty with the United States had ended active hostilities but left the regency's finances strained and its political standing diminished. Provincial copper issues of this period were struck with minimal quality control, and the KM#81.1 variety is distinguished from closely related types by its specific die alignment rather than any refinement in execution.
