1 Paisa - Sidi Ibrahim Khan III

Janjira was one of the few princely states in India ruled by the Siddis — descendants of East African sailors, soldiers, and enslaved people who rose through Mughal and Maratha naval service to establish an independent principality on an island fortress off the Konkan coast. Sidi Ibrahim Khan III ruled during a period of tightening British paramountcy, and the state's coinage rights were already effectively nominal by the late 1820s. KM#18 represents one of the last locally struck issues before British administrative pressure rendered indigenous coinage redundant across most of the Deccan.
