| Obverse description | Boldly struck Arabic-script legend in two registers across the field, executed in a fluid calligraphic hand characteristic of Sur Empire copper coinage. The inscription, rendered in Naskh-style Arabic script, occupies the full flan and reads the royal titulature of Sher Shah Suri. The mint name (Lucknow) appears partially at the lower margin, while the regnal date is off-flan due to the irregular hammered fabric. The surfaces display the pronounced relief and slightly uneven strike typical of mid-16th century Indian hammered copper issues. |
