Obverse description The obverse field bears a multi-line Persian legend in Naskh script, struck in high relief against a recessed ground typical of hammered Mughal-style coinage. The inscription reads 'Sikka Mubarak Badshah Ghazi Shah Alam Bahadur,' constituting the royal titulature of the Mughal emperor Shah Alam II. The lettering is arranged in horizontal registers across the flan, with individual characters boldly rendered though showing the characteristic irregularity of hand-struck copper coinage. The flat, unadorned field and absence of decorative borders reflect the utilitarian nature of this base-metal issue struck at the Sawai Jaipur mint.
