Jaora was a small Muslim-ruled princely state in Malwa under British paramountcy, and its coinage output was modest almost to the point of invisibility. This piece is catalogued as a pattern — meaning it was struck for approval or examination rather than general release, which explains why KM#10 survivors are so rarely encountered. Muhammad Ismail Khan ruled Jaora from 1865 until his death in 1895, putting the window for this issue squarely in the final years of his reign.
Whether the pattern ever received sanction for full circulation remains unresolved in the literature.
